The First Annual Celebration of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Join us on July 26th, 2014 from 3-5 PM at the Eastside Library, 1102 East Montecito Street, Santa Barbara for a video and stories about the campaign to pass the ADA. There will also be a discussion about how to continue to implement the law in Santa Barbara. The ADA was signed into law on July 26th, 1990. The law makes it illegal to discriminate against people with disabilities in housing and employment. It also requires private businesses and government entities to provide accommodations such as ramps for wheelchairs, information in Braille and sign language interpreters. The Eastside Library is wheelchair accessible and both sign language and Spanish interpretation will be provided upon request.
