The First WOman Physician in history..... Merit Ptah (Beloved of the god Ptah; c. 2700 BCE) was an physician in Ancient Kemet(Egypt). She is most notable for being the first woman known by name in the history of the field of medicine, and she was one of the first women to be openly accepted as a practitioner of science, though in ancient Egypt, much of science. Her name itself is composed of the elements mr, meaning beloved, t, which indicates a female name, and Pth, the great Egyptian god of craftsmen, Ptah . Merit Ptah literally means, a woman beloved of Ptah.
