The Fixx has always been hard for me to peg. In one sense, theyre a rock band, but their songs always sound so mysterious. Part of this is helped by Lead singer Cy Curnins absolutely haunting singing style. But even the lyrics, in the case of this track inspired by the Buddhist concept of sunyata, loosely meaning emptiness, are just hypnotic. The video is delightfully weird, too. Personally, Im a big fan of the 80s trend of slow-mo table-flipping, but the advanced paint-smearing is a nice touch.
