It will be based on the DC Comics character Flash (Barry Allen), a costumed crime-fighter who was created by Robert Kanigher, John Broome and Carmine Infantino. It is intended to be a spin-off to Arrow, existing in the same universe. A pilot, to be written by Berlanti, Kreisberg and Johns, and directed by David Nutter, has been greenlit. The series was officially picked up on May 8, 2014. It was premiered on October 7th.
