It’s not the kind of war that grabs the international headlines, nor is it the type of conflict that even draws the concern of most Americans. It is, nevertheless, a very un-civil war, which pits one ideology against another. Both sides see ulterior motives and a financial incentive in the opposing camp. While it has mostly been a war of words over the past ten to fifteen years, there has nevertheless been a cost and a body count. As with many wars, each opposing camp has become so embroiled in the dispute that they have lost sight of the resulting casualties. The war over the world famous tarpon fishery in Boca Grande Pass is a war that will continue to cost all of us dearly, unless the angling public can find a way to stop it.
