The Foreign Oil Companies operating in Alaska had the opportunity - TopicsExpress

The Foreign Oil Companies operating in Alaska had the opportunity to alleviate the lack of clean electric energy transmission lines by developing the plant on the North Slope and creating the transmission system to Western Alaska YEARS AGO. NOPE, in fact, in my opinion, the Military/Industrial Complex has purposefully, willfully kept Western Alaska reliant on the old dirty diesel engines, keeping the airways filled with not only polluting exhaust but may possibly be laden with radioactive fumes/particles (the EPA website has info on the radioactive background of all oi) and keeping the costs sinfully exhorbitant for the Tribal communities! Those Foreign Oil Companies, the State, the Feds-- are culpable in my book for a lot of environmental and health damages and deaths. Spewing from 22 oil platforms or more in Cook Inlet, unlike any other State allows, is near constant flaring into the airways of Southcentral Alaska. I would much rather see alternative renewable clean technologies that do not harm our fisheries or their habitat, nor alters the waters that all marine life depends on. ".... Produced water is fluid trapped underground and brought up with oil and gas. It makes up about 20 percent of the waste associated with offshore drilling. Produced waters usually have an oil content of 30 to 40 parts per million. As a result, the nearly 2 billion gallons of produced water released into the Cook Inlet in Alaska each year contain about 70,000 gallons of oil." oceana.org/en/our-work/stop-ocean-pollution/oil-pollution/learn-act/impacts-of-offshore-drilling
