The Frederik Van Zyl Slabbert Institute for Student Leadership Development (FVZS Institute) at Stellenbosch University (SU)would like you to extend our invitation to partake in the first Maties Market place to young entrepreneurs in your network. The market is located at the Wilcocks building on the corner of Ryneveld and Victoria Street. The aim of the market is to give young entrepreneurs a place to start their business and to allow for community interaction between students and the local entrepreneurs. The Maties Market place will be held on the first Wednesday of every month between 17:00 and 22:00.We believe that the core of a successful market is a fun and festive atmosphere. For this reason we will make sure that there is always live music, colourful décor and more than enough seating underneath. Light fires and enough signage will further make for a wonderful atmosphere. Enough parking will be available so people can access the market easily. The market will be held outdoors which means it will be affected by weather conditions. We will have Gazebos and all the necessary equipment ready for rainy weather conditions. The market will become a great option for Wednesday nights out on campus and we have a fantastic media partner to get the feet to the market. Kindly refer to the frequently asked questions below as to better understand the idea behind the Maties Market. · How much will it cost to trade as a vendor? It will cost R150 per evening market. · When is the first market planned for? 7th August, we have two preliminary markets scheduled for September and October · What age limit is set for the young entrepreneurs? You have to be younger than 30 years of age. · If I have a stall at the market, what will be available to me? Trestle table Two chairs Gazebo Electricity · What is expected of me as a vendor? We have an active social media and advertising campaign that we are currently running. It has been carefully designed to make sure we get complete exposure for the market. We do however require each vendor to participate in advertising. This means that advertising content needs to be shared through each vendors social media platforms (e.g. Facebook and Twitter) as well as through your distribution lists.
