The Freight Transport Association has revealed details of its forthcoming Fleet Engineer conference in Birmingham this June. The event, on Wednesday 11 June at Birmingham’s National Motorcycle Museum, is aimed at individuals with responsibility for specifying commercial vehicles, ensuring roadworthiness compliance and maintaining vehicles, providing delegates with the very latest information on which to base vehicle specification and maintenance decisions.Kevin Rooney, Traffic Commissioner for the north-east of England, is expected to speak at the event, focussing on the importance of maintenance provision and meeting compliance standards for operator licence holders in the face of competing priorities from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) for an update on load securing and enforcement, and from vehicle manufacturers, operators and leading transport industry bodies on technical issues currently affecting fleet engineers.Other issues set to be investigated include tyre technology, load securing and enforcement update from the DVSA, technical legislation update, and alternative-fuelled vehicles. FTA members can secure a seat £325 for the first delegate and £275 thereafter while non-members pay £385 then £345.
