The French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo is coming out with a new edition of 3 million copies of the Mohammed cartoons and, also, including published translations into 16 languages. This is just a week after it lost 10 employees in attacks over the same brand of cartoons. The cartoon representation holds up the Je Suis Charlie (Im Charlie) sign, and with tear in his eye, standing under the message All is forgiven. Some major media organizations around the world ran the cartoons, others havent. But, few question freedom of the press and expression (in the West) that allows such representations. The issue here is more than cartoons or satires. Its about defiance of ideological extremism. This is what the cherished Renaissance brought to the West. Igonikon Jack
