The Friends of the Baldwin Park Shelters Pets invite you to please share this post widely. Pat Claerbout, the new provisional Baldwin Park Shelter manager, perhaps with the blessing of her mistress Marcia Mayeda the head of the Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control (and the person who hired Claerbout), today banned all shelter volunteers from the cat buildings and tomorrow has scheduled a mass slaughter of the shelters cats. This comes on the heels of her 64 cat and 10 rabbit killing on September 30th Her rationale is there is an outbreak of panleukopenia in the cat building. Apparently Ms. Claerbout has the unique belief that panleuk is spread by volunteers. Its a middle finger salute to the animals, rescuers, volunteers and employees and an affront to anyone who loves animals. Ms. Claerbout is still serving a probationary six month trial period and we invite anyone who wishes to express their views on her fitness to make decisions about pets’ lives to call and e-mail the five members of the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, Don Knabe, Mike Antonovich, Mark Ridley-Thomas, Gloria Molina and Zev Yaraslovsky and the news media before she is made a permanent employee. Again we ask, how could Claerbout be hired? Doesnt Marcia Mayeda have Google?
