† The Get Up and Go † Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. I have had enough, LORD, he said. Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors. Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. 1 Kings 19:3–5 NIV Elijah had just had a life changing victory and after it came sudden fear and discouragement. He ran for his life into the wilderness and then sat down and prayed that he might die. The Lord asked him: What are you doing here Elijah? And then after Elijah carefully explained his circumstance the Lord said: Get up, and go. Anyone that has walked with the Lord a while has had something go differently than they planned. You don’t always get what you want, the way you want, when you want it. Be assured that every time that you fall down, give up, and pray to die, God is going to say "Get up and go". So today, if you are ready to give up, hide under a bush and sleep, God will still say: Get up and go.
