The Gibbsville Libertarian Tuesday, December 24th, 1983 State Police are investigating the cause of a bizarre murder-suicide that has left residents of Centerville and Anthracite County in shock. Billy Jusinski, 27, Chief of Police, Centerville, committed suicide with his own gun after murdering five men and a young unidentified girl in Centerville Monday night. Four of the men were shot at point blank range behind St. Kolbe’s Catholic Church. One of the men was the pastor of St. Kolbe’s, Reverend Edmond Ulinsky. A body of a young girl was found bludgeoned with a shovel near the four murdered men behind the church. Another man was murdered in the home of Cleona Burke, Centerville. Police speculate that after murdering the four men and young girl behind the church, Jusinski travelled on foot to the Burke home. Jusinski killed himself in Burke’s living room. No motive for the killings has been established. Cleona Burke was taken to Clay Station General Hospital and treated for severe shock. A spokesman from the State Police confirmed that Burke hadn’t been injured physically. Burke was transferred to The Susquehanna Women’s Hospital early this morning after repeatedly claiming that the identity of the murdered girl was her daughter, Anne Marie Burke, whose body was never found after she was murdered by Dante Sergio in 1963 just outside of Centerville. Autopsies will be performed on the seven bodies sometime after Christmas day. Authorities hope the autopsy of the young girl will shed light on her identity. Traffic continues to be rerouted around Centerville at the intersection of Locust Avenue and Center Street in Centerville, and at Centre Street and Route 61 in Clay Station.
