The Girl in the Shiny New Car…episode 15…Two in One… Tattered, and covered with soot and blood, the man stood in front of Roberto Giovanni. “We was across the street, watch’n, like you told us. Al went in,” the man explained. Next thing we know the black dame came out with this white guy and the two took off in a car. We started shooting and the whole building blew up. Joe was killed.” Roberto sat silently contemplating the man’s story. Known simply as ‘Mr. G.’ since his father and brother had been killed in the wars of ’26, he had bided his time until his own five sons were old enough to help him with re-establishing control of Detroit by the Giovanni family. “What about Knuckles?” Giovanni asked. “Didn’t see ‘em,” the man said. “And Joe,” he added. “Not a trace,” the man replied. “Okay,” Mr. G. replied. “Have Carl take you to the hospital. Tell ‘em you was light’n a stove or some’n.” The man left and Mister-Gee turned to his oldest son, Roberto Jr., who everyone called ‘Little-Gee’. They all knew that if ‘Little-Gee’ said it, it was as good as coming from the boss. “Go down to the police station,” Mister-Gee said to his son. “Check with some of our sources, see what you can find out about this explosion.” “And,” he added as Little-Gee was going out the door. “See if they have any line on the black dame and the guy.” ‘Might as well make ‘em all pay,’ he thought. Besides, the girl would probably bring out that one ear bastard, Goldberg. If he could get him too, he could get Cleveland back.
