The Giving Team, a volunteer recognition issue of Tributaries - TopicsExpress

The Giving Team, a volunteer recognition issue of Tributaries magazine, will be published in December and we need our readers help in identifying special individuals and organizations to recognize. Twelve awards are given to local individuals or organizations. Nomination letters for next years Giving Team will be accepted through Nov. 15, 2013, and must explain briefly why the nominee is deserving of recognition. Letters may be sent to the Tribune & Georgian at P.O. Box 6960, St. Marys, GA 31558 or e-mailed to publisher@tribune-georgian. The recognition program follows a football theme, which represents the teamwork needed to build a successful community. The Coach award goes to an outstanding nonprofit board member. The Quarterback award is presented to an executive director whose devotion exceeds the requirements of their job. The Receiver award recognizes good stewardship of donated monies. Volunteers also can be recognized with the Running Back award, for tireless contributions in volunteer labor, or the Cheerleader award, for being a strong advocate or spokesperson for a local cause. Booster awards recognize businesses that have given back to the community through dollars and in-kind contributions of goods or services. Last year, a Rookie award also was presented to a new nonprofit organization that has made a positive impact in the community. Nomination letters do not have to specify a specific award category to be considered. This years honorees will be chosen by a committee of representatives from the nonprofit community as well as members of the Tribune & Georgian staff. Each member of the Giving Team is profiled in the December 2012/January 2013 issue of Tributaries, which is inserted into subscriber newspapers and available free at racks throughout Camden County.
