The God Head May 17, 2014 at 9:41am This lesson is very in depth, and long. When writing about the Godhead you need many scriptures. Now I will not say I know everything about the Godhead, and many ministers are better versed then I, on the subject. With my experience of preaching on the streets in Columbus, Ohio, I have met many false teachers concerning this subject. So please be patient with this lesson, and I hope you enjoy it. The first thing I would like to say is this. Just because Jesus will mention the words Father, or God, doesnt mean he is talking about someone else. This can easily be proven. We all know that Jesus is the Son of God, the Messiah, the Christ, and the Son of man. Please pay close attention to these verses. (Matthew 9:5-6) For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith He to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house. Now we know Jesus is talking about himself, but why didnt he say, “That ye may know Ihave power on earth to forgive sins? (Matthew 11:18-19) For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a wine bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children. Once again you can see that just because Jesus will use terms like The Son of man, doesnt mean He is talking about someone else. I put great emphasis on this, because when Jesus will say words like Father, God, Comforter, and Holy Spirit, people will quickly point these words out, and say, You see Jesus isnt God. (Matthew 16:27) For the Son of man shall come, in the glory of His Father, with His angels; and then He shall reward every man according to his works. There are many scriptures in which Jesus will talk about himself, but isnt personal with the way he is coming forth with his words. So we must not be confused when we read Him speaking about God, or His Father as being some type of separate person than him. We must rightly divide the word of God to understand the scriptures. To pick apart scriptures to prove something, while leaving the rest of the word of God, is wrong. (Luke 24:45-47) Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the Scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day And that repentance, and remission of sins, should be preached in his name, among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Once again please notice, thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead, the third day, and that repentance, and remission of sins, should be preached in His name. Jesus is talking here but said Christ to suffer. Why didnt Jesus say this, “Thus it behooved Me to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins would be preached in My name? The verse before (Luke 24:45-46), Jesus is very personal in his conversation. (Luke 24:44) And He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. So once again you can see that even though Jesus said Christ would die, and that repentance, and remission of sins, would be preached in his name, He is still talking about Himself. I love using the part about receiving the Holy Ghost, as showing Who Jesus is. I believe it is a good means of explaining the Godhead. (John 14:16) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Now remember, just because Jesus said, I will pray the Father, doesnt mean he is talking about someone separate from Him. Please notice Who was going to give the comforter. Jesus said the Father was supposed to. Also dont be confused with Jesus saying another comforter, as being separate from him. Jesus is the comforter, and the One, giving of Himself, and I will prove this. (John 14:26) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send, in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Jesus has now called the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, and once again said the Father would send it. These scriptures, if not studied correctly, could mislead a person into believing in a trinity, or three persons making one God. Like I said before, we must rightly divide the word of God to see who Jesus is. Jesus has said now, two different times, the Father would send the Comforter; however please pay close attention to the next verse. (John 15:26) But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you, from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of me: So, Who is sending the Comforter, the Father, or Jesus? Also we must know Who the Comforter really is. Remember, Jesus said the Comforter is the Holy Ghost. (John 14:16-18) And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever, Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Jesus is the Comforter, the Holy Ghost coming down to live in side us. We dont have two comforters, and Jesus said He would not leave us comfortless, and that He would come! (1Corinthians 3:16) Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (Colossians 1:27) To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: (Act 20:28) Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which He hath purchased with His Own blood. As you can see with these three verses that the Spirit of God dwells in us, which is Christ in you. Also it was the Comforter----- Holy Ghost that shed His Own blood for us.Jesus is the One that shed his blood for us, and He is now the Spirit of God dwelling in us, as the Comforter. (Genesis 1:26) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing, that creepeth upon the earth. This is one of the most used scripture, in the Bible, where people will try to teach the trinity doctrine. Ministers will try to point to you that God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and will refer this as God speaking to Jesus. This is totally false, and it amazes me how the very next verse explains this scripture, and they just dont see it! (Genesis 1:27) So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them. If God was talking to someone else about helping Him create man, than it should have read like this. So they created man in their image, in the image of God created they him, male and female created they them. This would show someone else helping God create, but it doesnt mean that. The Bible is very clear Who the Creator of everything is! (Genesis 1:-9) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. (Isaiah 42:5) Thus saith God, the LORD, He that created the heavens, and stretched them out; He that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; He that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: (Isaiah 44:24) Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, and He that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by Myself; (Isaiah 45:12) I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even My hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded. Now with these verses you can see that God created the heavens, earth, and made all things. The Bible even said, that spreadeth abroad the earth by Himself. God didnt need anyone to help him create the world. He did this all by Himself and with His own hands. Now this causes a problem with the trinity doctrine, because they say God, and Jesus are two separate beings. The Bible clearly in the beginning of Genesis, and also in the book of Isaiah, claims to have One Creator. The book of John, and also Colossians, claim that Jesus created the world, and everything. (John 1:10) He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Himnot. (Colossians 1:14-17) In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him: And he is before all things, and by Him all things consist. If God created the world and everything by Himself, and Jesus created all things, including the world, this would make Him... God! Jesus is God, manifested in the flesh. (1Timothy 3:16) And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God wasmanifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. If we were to ask anyone that believes in Jesus, who the Savior is, every time they would say Jesus is!, however this also causes a problem with the trinity doctrine. Remember with the trinity view of God, they believe Jesus, and God are separate. If this were true, it would cause problems with the word of God, because in the New Testament, you have Jesus as Savior, but the Old Testament has God as the Savior. The real problem with the trinity doctrine, concerning the Savior is this. There is only ONE Savior, and NOT TWO! Lets look first at the New Testament. (Luke 2:11) For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. (John 4:42) And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard Him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world. (2Peter 3:18) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord, and Savior, Jesus Christ. To Him be glory, both now, and forever. Amen. As you can clearly see, Jesus is the Savior according to the New Testament. Now the Old Testament scriptures: (Isaiah 43:3) For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia, and Seba, for thee. (Isa 43:11) I, even I, am the LORD; and beside Me there is no savior. (Isaiah 45:15) Verily Thou art a God that hidest thyself, O God of Israel, the Savior. (Isaiah 45:21) Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? Have not I, the LORD? And there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Savior; there is none beside me. If Jesus is separate from God, as another person, how can he be Savior, when God said, beside Him there was no Savior? The only logical explanation to this, is Jesus is God manifest in the flesh. He is our God, the Savior! There is no other Savior besides Him. (Jude 1:25) ...to the ONLY wise God, our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever Amen. The book of (Titus), I like to call the Savior riddle book. In all the three chapters of this book the word Savior is mentioned twice, once for God, and then for Jesus. I have fun with this book because I like to ask the Trinitarians, Was Titus confused, or was he letting us knows Who the Savior is? Lets look at all six verses concerning this. (Titus 1:3) But hath in due times manifested His word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Savior; (Titus 1:4) To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God, the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior. (Titus 2:10) Not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine ofGod, our Savior in all things. (Titus 2:13) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing, of the great God, and our Savior, Jesus Christ; (Titus 3:4) But after that the kindness, and love, of God our Savior, toward man appeared, (Titus 3:6) Which He shed on us, abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; I like (Titus 2:13) a whole bunch, because it says something very interesting! Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing, of the great God, and our Savior, Jesus Christ. There is only ONE person mentioned appearing to us, and its Jesus. (Act 1:9-11) And when He had spoken these things, while they beheld, He was taken up; and a cloud received Him out of their sight And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner, as ye have seen Him go into heaven. (1Thessanlonians 4:16) For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven, with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: No! Titus wasnt confused! He knew that Jesus was the great God, and the ONLY Saviorappearing to us. The Trinitarians are totally confused at this. I also like to ask people, that believe in three persons, in one god, How do you know more about God, than God Himself? I mean its simple math concerning the trinity doctrine, but they have forgotten how to count. God the father equals one, God the Holy Ghost equals two, and God the son equals three. 1+1+1 always equals three; however this is another problem with the false doctrine of trinity. I would rather believe God, the Creator of everything, over the simple minds of humans. Amen. Lets see what God has to say about this, three Gods, or persons, equaling one. (Isaiah 43:10) Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He: Before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. (Isaiah 44:6) Thus saith the LORD, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside Me, there is no God. (Isaiah 44:8) Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? Ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? Yea, there is no God; I know not any. (Isaiah 45:5) I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known Me: (Isaiah 45:21) Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: Who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? Andthere is NO God Else beside Me; a just God, and a Savior; there is none beside me. God said over, and over again, He is the only God, and there is no other! Remember first Timothy said God was manifest in the flesh. (1Timothy 3:16) And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. He even asks the question is there a God besides me?, and claims He knows not any! So how can pastors, teachers, and ministers, preach that there is God, the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Ghost? Plus I have never read the words God, the Holy Ghost, or God the Son. Yet, like I have explained in the scriptures, Jesus is God, manifest in the flesh, and this SAME Spirit, is also the Holy Ghost, which abides in us. Jesus was asked, at one time, to show us the father. I can see those that believe that He isnt the father asking Him again, in heaven, show us the father. I can tell you this, for sure, the answer will always be the same. (John 14:6-9) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known Me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know Him, and HAVE SEEN HIM. Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me, hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? If ye had known Me, ye should have known the Father also. Hast thou not known Me, Philip? He that hath seen me, hath seen the Father, and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father. People ask me the question; Did Jesus ever say he was God? I would like to ask them the question; Did Jesus ever say that He wasnt God? I believe if Jesus wasnt God and someone called him God, He would correct them! Did anyone ever call Jesus God, and what happened when they did? (John 20:26-29) And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace, be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto Him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Yes, Thomas called Jesus, My Lord, and my God!, and Jesus said, you believe because you have seen, blessed are they that have not seen, and yet believe. I dont know about anyone else, but I believe Jesus is my Lord, and my God, and Jesus said I was BLESSED to believe that way. The Apostle Paul in many of his letters to the churches seems to be talking about God, and Jesus, being separate. With further studying of the Bible you come to realize, once again,he isnt. As I said before, just because you read God, and Jesus, in a verse together, doesnt mean talking about separation. Here are some examples. (Romans 15:6) That ye may with one mind, and one mouth, glorify God, even the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ. (1Corinthians 1:3) Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. (Galatians 1:1) Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;) (Galatians 1:3) Grace be to you, and peace from God, the Father, and from our Lord, Jesus Christ, One could argue that since the words God, our father, and from the Lord, Jesus Christ, in a verse together represents two different individuals. I can prove that it doesn’t. As the Trinitarians use the Bible, and verses, to separate God from Jesus, I will now separate God, from the father. (Colossians 2:2) That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; Notice the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ. Paul appears to have separated God, from the Father. (2Thessalonians 2:16) Now our Lord Jesus Christ, Himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Once again as you read this Paul said, Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, even our father, which would appear again to be separating God from the Father. (1Thessalonians 3:11) Now God Himself, and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you. Notice again, God Himself, and our father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you. If Jesus is separate from God in this verse, than God must also be separate from the father, in the other verses which we have read. According to this verse God, our father, and Jesus Christ are directing our ways. So you can clearly see that even when you read once again, God, and Jesus in a verse together, doesnt actually mean separating them, or you would have to separate God from the Father. Who raised Jesus from the dead? If you ask most Christians this question, their answer would be God. When reading many scriptures and not rightly dividing them, it would appear to be that way, however lets examine these scriptures. (Act 3:26) Unto you first God, having raised up his Son, Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you, from his iniquities. (Act 4:10) Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ, of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him, doth this man stand here before you whole. (Act 5:30) The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, and hanged on a tree. (Acts 10:40) Him, God raised up, the third day, and showed Him openly; (1Corinthians 6:14) And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us, by His own power. (1Peter 1:21) Who by Him, do believe in God, that raised Him up from the dead, and gave Him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Now I know what these scriptures have said and I understand these scriptures even deeper than most others. To really know Who raised Jesus from the dead, we must get the words of the Lord Himself. I am not saying these scriptures are wrong, but you will also realize thatJesus raised Himself up, because he is God manifest in the flesh. (John 2:19-23) Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three daysI will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But He spake of the temple of His body. When therefore He was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that He had said this unto them; and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. In these three verses you have Jesus saying, destroy this temple, and in three days ( I WILL RAISE IT UP! ) We also know the temple, He was talking about, (WAS HIS BODY), so as you can see, Jesus raised Himself up from the dead. When you read verses that say God the Father, Who raised him up, it is talking about Jesus as the Father. One of the questions always asked, is this: Who is Jesus praying to? Did you know Jesus was in heaven, while on earth? With God all things are possible! (John 3:13) And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but He that came down from heaven, even the Son of man, which is in heaven. Jesus was on earth when He said, even the Son of man, which is in heaven. We must not limit God in what he can do or say. Just because Jesus prays, doesnt mean he is talking to someone else. He was God, but he was also in human flesh. He can be in heaven, and on earth, at the SAME TIME. He can also pray to himself, amen. I like using the shepherd and the door, parable to prove my point on this. (John 10:1-2) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber But He that entereth in by the door, is the shepherd of the sheep. (John 10:7) Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. (John 10:9) I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. (John 10:11) I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. Very powerful scriptures when read closely. Jesus said he that entered in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. He also said two different times He was the Door. Than with amazement proclaims He is the Good Shepherd. As Jesus was in heaven, and on earth, the same time, he is also the Shepherd, and the Door, going into Him. Once againnothing is impossible for God. Why limit God with question like who is Jesus praying to? He can pray to Himself, because he is God, in the flesh. In the book of Revelation it speaks about a throne in heaven. These are also good scriptures in understanding who Jesus is. Here are some of the scriptures in Revelation. (Revelation 4:2) And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. (Revelation 4:4) And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. (Revelation 4:8-9) And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. And when those beasts give glory and honor and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth forever and ever, (Revelation 19:4) And the four and twenty elders, and the four beasts, fell down and worshiped God, that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. We know according to these verses that ONLY ONE sat on the throne, and He was God. Not two, or three were sitting on the throne, but ONE God. We can also find out who this One God is, sitting on the throne. (Revelation 4:8) And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. (Revelation 11:17) Saying, We give Thee thanks, Oh Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee, thy great power, and hast reigned. (Revelation 1:8) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. (Revelation 21:3) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the Tabernacleof God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God. (Revelation 21:5) And He that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And He said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. (Revelation 21:6-7) And He said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst, of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. Jesus said He was the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending, the One which is, which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Plus notice He that sat on the throne, would be God himself, being with us. Also notice the Person sitting on the throne said , I will give unto him, that is athirst, of the fountain of the water of life, freely. This has to be Jesus, because of what he said to the woman at the well. (John 4:13-15) Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. When you tie this scripture with the book of Revelation it is easy to see, that God, Who sits on the throne, Who is Jesus Christ, gives us this water. There are many other scriptures I can show that prove Jesus is God manifest in the flesh. I want to end the lesson with this final scripture. This one verse alone describes the Lord very greatly. Just remember Jesus as a man grew hungry, but as God fed multitudes. As a man died, but as God raised himself up. As a man suffer with pain, but as God will wipe away all tears and pains. (Isaiah 9:6) For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. To some Jesus is only the Son of God; to me he is all of the above names, and more. I hope you have enjoyed this lesson.
