The Granger Irish recently completed their local tournament - TopicsExpress

The Granger Irish recently completed their local tournament schedule by competing in the 2013 Super State Tournament held in Warsaw at the CCAC. After winning their 2 pool play games against the Duneland Flyers (3-1) and Ft. Wayne Cubs (14-1), the Irish drew the Michiana Scrappers Orange. It was just last week that the Irish eliminated the Orange by a score of 5-4 in the ETS State Tournament. This week the Orange got revenge on the Irish by defeating them 4-3. This game had a combined total of 3 hits and 1 error as both teams battled hard each inning. Each team had to "manufacture" their runs by walks, bunts and infield ground outs. Fundamental baseball was on display in this game and noticed by those that were watching. The Granger Irish continue to earn the respect of those that come in contact with them. The Irish opponents continue to throw their best pitchers against them; fans of the opponents tell the team how they enjoyed playing against them, win or lose; umpires look forward to the Irish games; and tournament directors enjoy the Granger Irish presence and look for the team to compete on Sundays. It is now time for the Irish to take their "574" successful way of doing things to the "607" in Cooperstown, NY. The participating teams have been posted with teams not only from the continental 48 states, but also Hawaii and Canada. All of the boys are looking forward to this great experience and competing at the national/international level. Updates will be coming from Cooperstown daily, however you can also follow the team at cooperstowndreamspark under week 6. There will also be a game or 2 available via the parks live webcam (games for this have not yet been determined). Go Granger Irish! 11 boys, 1 team, Cooperstown 2013. Irish Strong!
