The Gratitude Project Hello, I’m Jodi Cross and I have been given the honour of connecting with you today to launch ‘The Gratitude Project’. I’ve been commissioned to start a research project into the effects of Gratitude and am so excited to be able to invite you to take part in this project. ‘So what do you have to do.’ It’s so simple, quick and easy. Even your children can take part. Before you start, on a scale of 1 -10, I want you to score yourself, I want you to think about how happy you are with your lot in life and how you are feeling right now. Are you weighed down with worry or are you feeling ok’ ish and coping, or are you quite happy with your lot. Where ever you feel you are on the scale between 1 - 10 just make a note of it (1 being extremely un happy with your lot in life - 10 being extremely happy with your lot in life) Now that you have your score: All you need to do is think of three things that you are grateful for; write them down on a piece of paper, in sentence form, and put your list somewhere where you are really going to notice it , first thing in the morning, somewhere really obvious. It may be your bedside table or maybe your bathroom mirror or your wardrobe door, but it must be prominent when you first wake up. Then every morning for thirty consecutive days you will read your list, mindfully, out loud, every morning for thirty days. The project lasts for only thirty days but it’s your choice when you start it, as we are running this project for a whole year. (This is to counteract any seasonal discrepancies that may occur.) But the important thing is that you only need to commit to thirty days. After your thirty days you must re score yourself and send me your before and after score. That’s it. It is so simple. It takes no time at all. The only terms and conditions to taking part are that you commit to thirty days, that you have a list of at least three things you are grateful for, that you read them out loud, mindfully for thirty consecutive days and that you send me your before and after score once completed . send your before and after score to thegratitudeproject2013@gmail with your scores in the subject box. That’s it. It is so simple. You can extend your GRATITUDE list if you wish to as long as you have at least three different things on your list there is no upper limit, and please ask your family and friends to join in with you. And if you want to you can report back to me about any positive changes that you or your friends have noticed. I would ask that you spread the word and send this out on your face book page, your email lists, linked in page and any other social network site that you feel is appropriate. Talk to your department head, your children’s teachers, your church, your ladies groups, reading group, meditation group, friends and neighbours, please spread the word and give them my email address. thegratitudeproject2013@gmail Your scores will be collated then processed, once collated with other information from other projects, the information will be published at a later date.
