The Great Gardener James 1:21 “So throw all spoiled virtue - TopicsExpress

The Great Gardener James 1:21 “So throw all spoiled virtue and cancerous evil in the garbage. In simple humility, let our gardener, God, landscape you with the Word, making a salvation-garden of your life” James 1:21 (MSG). I love gardening because gardens are packed with spiritual lessons; perhaps that’s why this verse speaks so strongly to me. It challenges me to take my untidy, weed-filled life and turn it over to the Master Gardener, allowing His life-changing Word to shape me into a garden that produces an abundance of good fruit (instead of a crop of weeds). You see, when we fully turn our lives over to the Great Gardner, allowing His life-giving Word to penetrate our lives, we become changed. God carefully pulls out the weeds in our character, leaving only the fruit-producing plants; then, He nurtures and waters these plants until our lives are overflowing with the fruits of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (see Galatians 5:22-23). So, today, I challenge you to throw open your heart to the Great Gardener, to fervently read His life-changing Word, to wholeheartedly allow Him to landscape your sin-soaked soul, to miraculously transform your weed-garden into a salvation-garden. ~Randy & Trena Reed
