The Greatness of the Creator Psalm 104:1-4 God has created us for worship. We have the capacity to experience great joy in the presence of beauty and greatness. When we look at creation we become aware of great beauty. God, our creator, is worthy of our praise and worship. Worship is an expression of love and adoration of the one being worshipped. Worship is a state of complete love and attention for the worshipped. Human beings were created with the capacity to experience emotion. The desire of humanity is to love. That spark of love attracts us to another like being or an object of great beauty. The worshipped entity attracts the worshipper to enter into a state of awe, adoration and love. According to an article in ‘Ilumina’ Bible software, the Lord is the only entity worthy of such praise and adoration. However, we often choose to worship that which is not worthy. Only God is entirely worthy of our love and adoration. from Ilumina: We do not think of ourselves as a worshiping culture, let alone an idolatrous culture, but our behavior suggests otherwise. Consider our weekly gatherings of up to 100,000 frenzied fans observing a ceremony of men dressed in strange garb acting out a violent drama of conquest. Others stay at home and join in by way of a small glowing shrine set up in the family room. Fans of professional football are probably not even aware that their behavior could be described as worship. Or consider the way thousands of young people scream and throw themselves at the stage where their rock-star idols are performing. Human beings were created to worship. To worship is to ascribe ultimate value to an object, person, or God-and then to revere, adore, pay homage to, and obey by ordering the priorities of our lives around that which we worship. The Bible teaches that God alone is worthy of our worship. Psalm 104 Let my whole being bless the LORD ! LORD my God, how fantastic you are! You are clothed in glory and grandeur! The Psalmist sees God as the all powerful who is revealed in His creation. The purity of light is the essence of the creator. Light shines through the curtain of darkness. Darkness is the absence of light. Psalm 104 2 You wear light like a robe; you open the skies like a curtain. John says this about light: Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Psalm 104 3 You build your lofty house on the waters; you make the clouds your chariot, going around on the wings of the wind. Lord created the elements of water, winds and clouds. Water is formed from the hydrogen and oxygen in the air. From the clouds formed from the mixing of the gasses in the air. The Psalmist speaks of the creator as One who ‘rides’ on the wings of the wind. from universetoday website: First, water evaporates, rises, and fills up the atmosphere. The evaporated water, a.k.a. water vapor then clings to other numerous particles or dust found in the atmosphere. This dust comes from automobiles, fires, volcanoes, bacteria, and sea spray. As water vapor rises, it cools. Now, the lower the temperature of air, its capacity to hold water vapor (also known as the saturation point of air) also drops. Psalm 104 4 You make the winds your messengers; you make fire and flame your ministers. Fire removes low-growing underbrush, cleans the forest floor of debris, opens it up to sunlight, and nourishes the soil. Reducing this competition for nutrients allows established trees to grow stronger and healthier. My prayer for you today is that you take time to worship God as the creator of infinite beauty.
