The Groves Summer Family Night Water Mania free event was a huge success and a lot of fun! While the kids were playing on the Water Slides, Slip-n-Slides, Water Games, and all out water mania fun, Dan and myself yet again got babysitting duty of Camera Charlie. The families had such a wonderful time playing, laughing, cooling off with some water and enjoying some great food from the food trucks. One heart touching moment of the evening was the pleasure to spend some quality time with the McAlexander family, who lost their father, husband, dad, grandfather and friend Mac a short time ago in a motorcycle accident. Mac was one of those guys who always had a heart of gold, loved serving others and was a smiling face to all throughout his ministry at the Grove. The family was truly thankful for the Group and all of the positive words of encouragement by all. By the end of the night Camera Charlie was battered and bruised by all of the fellow group members of all ages that recognized the little fella,and wanted to get a picture with him and were so excited to share on how the Group has helped them in one way or another. Even one child was so excited to see Camera Charlie she mauled him, CC didnt mind though (we put a band-aid on him and told him to suck it up) and get back out there... Tough love... lol The volunteer staff was amazing, friendly, ear to ear smiles and a huge help to put on this free event for the community, and even went to such lengths to get this water event approved by the City to not water their lawns for a few days to compensate for the minimal water used for this event.
