The Guilt Trip This is the awkward tale of a mother and son on a road trip together, and why so few movies before have not utilized this premise. The second half of this movie was pretty good; the first half was quite awful. I am still wrestling with myself on whether or not it was necessary for the plot to have such a terrible opening act, or if the second half appeared so good only because the first was so terrible, thus warping my perception and expectations. The chemistry between Seth Rogen and Barbra Striesand is like nails on a chalkboard at the beginning, but that may be because you relate to those most embarrassing moments caused by your mother trying too hard to care for you. However, by the end of the film, the two actors do sound like harmony. Your call if you want to see this film or not. You have been warned about the intro, but know that there is light at the end of the tunnel, I guarantee it.
