The HUM Family Shelter has 24 rooms where Volusia Co. resident families with children can stay for up to 6 months as they strive to become self sustaining members of our community. They receive a safe place to stay in a small room with 4 bunks and 3 meals a day so they can focus on employment and saving money. Guests receive personal case management with life skills, financial and child care guidance, access to our media center computers, a wonderful childrens play area, community TV and Snack areas. Volunteer professionals help with legal services, tutoring for children and spiritual guidance from our Shelter Chaplin. Shelter living is challenging, but much better than living in a car or tent, and provides a real opportunity for our guests to return to self sufficiency and permanent housing.
