The Haze Craze. I see a lot of complaints on FB about the current air quality in Singapore. This is indeed terrible. But, rather than blaming Indonesia for it, could we take a moment to reflect on ourselves and see the bigger picture? Singapore residents have by far the highest per capita carbon footprint in the Asia-Pacific region and one of the highest consumption habits on the planet. Yet, we are conveniently sheltered from the consequences of our privileged lifestyles by the thick, opaque veil called Illusion. And when our nice blue sky disappears for a few days to reveal the ugly reality of our world, the consequences of our own actions and a glimpse of a likely future, we complain and blame our neighbours. Our city is covered in haze for a few days, our minds are covered in haze most of the time.
