The Highly Migratory Species group of the Fisheries Resources Division of Southwest Fisheries Science center joined us for a science mission shakedown trial in May, 2014. One of the objectives was to test the capability of the ship to properly set and recover longline fishing apparatus and successfully bring fish on board for scientific work. Here is a short video of researchers bringing a small blue shark on to the starboard sampling station for sample collection.
