The History of the World in a Hundred Objects. #1: Mummy of Hornedjitef *History in Isolation * One of the things that got mentioned is that history is often taught in isolation. This is something which I realized years ago too. My history classes never looked at the big picture. They might focus on the Dutch Revolution, but never explained what was happening elsewhere in Europe, which might have explained why the Dutch actually managed to beat the Spanish. What was happening in Germany at the time? Or in France, Belgium, or even in Limburg (currently a province of the Netherlands, but not back then). * Tardis Coffins * His coffin contained a map of the stars at night to help him travel in space and time. And I thought.... TARDIS! * Ownership * One of the things that came up was the question if objects should be displayed where they were made, and that brought me once again to think of ownership. When and how does something became yours? And when and how can a former owner claim it back? A difficult question, which I might get back to later. * RPGs starting after death * One of the things I heard and was reminded of is that the dead man assumed he would need stuff in the afterlife. So he could use them on his travels to heaven. Or some such. That got me thinking of a RPG where the players start with the things they were buried with and have to go traveling to their final destinations.
