The House Training of Bichons: Carpet Chronicles I own a small bichon frise, of puppy mill provenance, far from purebred, with no pretensions to great beauty or intelligence, and only a moderate ability to pay attention. She’s delicate and sensitive, although she resembles Ellen Page’s superhero character in Super on occasion. She has an uncanny ability to climb atop furniture, likes to sleep all day in bed, and is fond of being carried around like a baby. For the last month, I’ve been desperately trying to housetrain her. I began by reading books, and attempted to cure her of her fear-based habits, like dragging her belly, cowering, crawling on the floor, and drinking gin after 9 pm. The End
