The Humane Society of Durham Region HSDR is pleased to launch the first annual “Show Your Heart” campaign. Please take a minute to read about this campaign and how you can help some very special animals at the HSDR. We all know that the month of February and the 14th of February (Valentine’s Day) is all about sharing our love for one another and thinking of others. For the month of February, to tie into the spirit of February and Valentine’s Day, the HSDR is pleased to launch the first annual “Show Your Heart” campaign. There are two objectives for this campaign. Building on Valentine’s Day (the 14th of February), our goal is to find a loving home for 14 of our longest serving, elderly, or special needs animals in the care of the HSDR in February. Unfortunately, some of the animals in the care of the HSDR fit two, even all three, of the above criteria. For a variety of reasons, these wonderful animals haven’t found their forever home yet but we are sure the loving community of Durham Region will help us address this by “Showing Your Heart” The secondary goal of this campaign is to raise $14,000 in the month of February for the care of the animals that rely on the HSDR. The bitterly cold winter has had a major impact on the operations of the HSDR. Our snow removal and heating costs has soared with the severe winter we have had so far. Here is how you can “Show Your Heart”: · Watch our Facebook page for a new video and profile of an animal that will be uploaded at 4:00 pm every day. · Please share the Facebook post with all of your friends to help spread the word of this special animal and our “Show Your Heart” campaign. · Come in and spend some time with one of the amazing animals that will be profiled through the month of February. · Spread the word in your workplace or neighbourhood to increase the awareness of these special animals and our “Show Your Heart” campaign. · Make the decision to volunteer and join the dozens of volunteers that help care for the animals each and every day. Email volunteer@humanedurham for more information. · Become a foster parent and help an animal for a shorter or defined period of time. Email volunteer@humanedurham for more information. · Become a member. All membership revenue goes directly to caring for the animals. Email membership@humanedurham for more information. · Make a one-time donation by going to CanadaHelps.org and entering Humane Society of Durham Region. Please Show Your Heart in the month of February and make a difference in the life of an extraordinary animal that needs you! Please make a difference in the life of an animal that needs a second chance at a loving home. Together, we can make that happen!
