The Hunting Debate: The entire point of technology was to enable - TopicsExpress

The Hunting Debate: The entire point of technology was to enable us to feed and shelter ourselves with less effort, danger and competition. The stage of technology that humanity is at means we no longer need to compete with each other nor to kill animals in order to feed every single human. Technology means that arguments about the need to hunt animals for food is long outdated. Tradition does not trump kindness to others: hunting traditions do not trump consideration of others including animals anymore than any other traditional acts depriving others of liberty and life do. In the same way that it is clear that Al Qaida / Taliban forcing their beliefs and exerting their traditional claims by violence on others is obviously wrong, so are other acts of violence on others on humans or animals whether traditional or not. As we can all eat without killing, there is no longer any need for us to do it. If you believe it is wrong to cause suffering to animals except when necessary, then the argument for hunting is the only thing that is and should by human hands be dead in the water.
