“The Ideal Filipino Values” Values come from the Greek word “valere” meaning strong and vigorous. And it is one of the concepts we use as points of reference or criteria for recognizing, expressing and evaluating social realities in the environment in terms of their importance and usefulness. Now in these very technological days, we Filipinos still have our ancient values. There are lots of unusual traits of us. First and for most in our value, we have a very close and strong attachment,love and care for our families. We also have a saying that our family comes first, and we are willing to do everything for our family. And as we talk about being a well loving family of the Filipino’s we are also a God fearing wellbeing, at a very young age our parents thought us on how to pray, go to the church every sunday and pray together for all the blessings that God has given to us. Second and the most famous value to the foreign culture is that of our being hospitable in many ways, especially when it comes to our visitors. We usually give the best and the most comfortable care that we can give to our fellow visitors. Third and one of our unexceptional value we had is the politeness we have to the elderly, by using “po” and “opo” and “mano po”. In terms of courting a woman many of our gentlemen still make harana or suprises and some sweet things for the girl that they wanted. We are also one of the happiest people in the world, that inspite of the trials that we are facing, still we find our ways to smile and be happy in many ways. We also have that ancient value which is tha “bayanihan” that is much popular in many urban places. Like in our barangay we still practice these kind of value. With these various values that we have, I am proud to say that I am a Filipino with the right conduct molded through the years that will not vanish no matter how advance life can be.
