The Importance Of High Pressure Systems: Areas of high pressure during the summer in particular often bring very warm and sunny conditions and these similar conditions can continue into the autumn months. Of late conditions have been very mild, if not warm across the country with temperatures generally above average and into the coming week that trend is expected to continue. However, the position of high pressure as we progress through autumn can become increasingly important for the opposite reason; it can introduce colder conditions and that is what is expected this week. At the moment high pressure is expected to shift to the west of Ireland around the middle of the week, as the weather chart shows and this is expected to introduce a colder spell of weather later in the week, of which really will feel markedly different compared with the warm weather of late. So, this is a good example of how the position and movement of weather patterns and especially high pressure systems can be particularly important during autumn and into winter. Get the winter woollies out!...
