The Incident of the Node Vortex Problem, a short story that draws attention to how flawed theory can be swallowed and perpetuated in the academic system. Written by high school-dropout-turned-soul-keyboardist-turned-Professor of Linguistics Geoffrey Pullum, it follows three coauthors of a fictional linguistic theory, but its lessons are generally applicable. BTW, he also wrote a Seussesque proof of the halting problem: lel.ed.ac.uk/~gpullum/loopsnoop.html
