The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mosimi - TopicsExpress

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mosimi depot, Sagamu, Ogun state has disclosed that it will invite the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to probe the alleged missing of N500 million from the association’s account. The newly-elected Chairman of the association, Adeleke Dada disclosed this in Abeokuta, shortly after the inauguration of the new executive members of the association. Dada, while alleging that the association lost about N500 million during the last administration, claimed that a lot of what he called unnecessary levies were collected by the past leaders. But, in a swift reaction, the former Public Relations Officer of the association, Peter Awosanya cautioned the new leaders against the action. While alleging the past leaders, Dada said “they misappropriated about N500 million during their tenure because they made about N10 million per month from all of the unnecessary levies which are illegal collection which were not accounted for. “We are going to call on the Economic Financial Crimes Commision (EFCC) to probe them because they embezzled the unnecessary levies that were paid to them,” he said The new Chairman also said the last administration was responsible for the hike in the price of fuel in the state. He said “during the fuel scarcity period, government did not increase the price of petroleum, it was their administration that increased the price in their own capacity to the rate of N110 per litre which is very wrong, the government didn’t tell them to increase it. “We had enough of the product in Mosimi depot so, whenever there is scarcity, they used that opportunity to hike the fuel price so as to enrich their pockets which was not good on the masses,” Dada said. He, however promised that the newly elected officers will put an end to the atrocities done by the last administration. “Now that we are on board, there will be a lot of differences because we will have to sanitise the whole system. People have been denied a lot of things and which we are ready to put in the right place. “We have to save ourselves from this cabal that has grouped themselves to be somebody when they are actually nobody, It starts from all the members all the way to the masses especially in Ogun state,” he said. When contacted over the allegation, the former Public Relations Officer, Peter Awosanya described the move as a welcome development, cautioning the new leadership to tread softly, saying, there is need to allow peace to reign.
