The Indigo Bunting is one of my favourite birds of spring, and one of my earliest inspirations for becoming a birder and photographer. Ive always loved nature and I was a tomboy, handling snakes and toads...but when I saw my first Indigo Bunting while in primary school, a school-mate tried to insist that it was an Indigo BUT-ning. I could not persuade her otherwise no matter what I said, and I KNEW I was right...my mother says I was really upset about it. Now we laugh and call them BUT-nings just for fun. Is it any surprise that a creature as beautiful as this made me fall in love with birds? Happy Spring! Officially, as of this moment!
