The Indo-Pakistani Muslim American community is one largely fueled by and based up gossip, pride, useless, perceived status, greed, and materialism. While there are some genuinely good and selfless people in our community, earnestly and selfless trying to do good work for themselves and others, our mosques and wedding halls are largely filled by people without any real concern for others, just for how they look and what other people say, and the conveniences of life, and will hurt people to get what they want. Support of their families is used as an excuse to justify any and all manner of selfishness. Our religion teaches us to do good from the personal level, to the family level and the community level, to help and care about those in need or with less than us. Not to worry about what we look like. The prophets words this religion started as a stranger and it will end as a stranger. If you are one of these people, one of these aunties and uncles, perpetuating this useless cycle while unable to treat homeless african americans next to you at the Eid salat with basic human dignity and caring while rushing to your next party of over-eating and spilling food onto your gaudy eid clothes, then change yourself.
