The International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC). ICAN is comprised of mothers with an extremely wide spectrum of birth experiences. They have VBACs in hospital, at home, and unassisted. They have scheduled repeat cesareans and unplanned emergency ones. They have empowering, family centered cesareans as well as traumatic ones. They also, on occasion, experience uterine ruptures and windows, as well as a number of other complications to include placenta previa, placenta accreta, and infant loss to name a few. In keeping with our mission, we seek to provide, on occasion, a platform for mothers to share their birth experiences and stories the way that they experienced them, and to share what they personally got out of their particular experience. In order to protect the mothers that do choose to share, whether it be anonymously or not, we reserve the right to remove comments that inappropriately attempt to dictate how a mother should perceive and/or process her birth experience, or that dictate how a mother should relay her experience to others by using another mothers birth story as a platform to promote personal birth ideologies that are differing in nature. This does not apply to educational materials, advocacy blogs, and articles as long as comments do not contain statements that are personally attacking another or are slanderous in nature. Each mother, baby, labor, and birth is different, as are the experiences that accompany each. In an effort to offer education on the healing function and importance of birth story sharing and listening, we are pleased to be partnering with Birthing From Within to offer an educational webinar on this important yet often overlooked topic. Please see our events tab for more info and thank you for supporting us as we support you. #Education #Support #Advocacy
