The “I’m a life coach, so I can coach myself” Myth You - TopicsExpress

The “I’m a life coach, so I can coach myself” Myth You know who should have life coaches? Life coaches! There’s this group of the most empowered people in the world, who possess the tools and knowledge to live in their fullest potential. This group of people has the knowledge to choose how they show up in the world. Until they have someone to help them harness and focus that power, they’re an untapped resource. Think about it this way: You walk into a hair salon and you decide you want to work with the person with the best hair. Here’s the catch: She didn’t cut and color her own hair. Someone else did. Stylists don’t work on themselves. Doctors go to other specialists when they have problems. Psychologists work with other psychologists in order to stay in the place they need to be in to help their patients. You’re a life coach, which means it’s practically your responsibility to have your own coach to help you accelerate your skills, work through the mindsets you need to adopt to run a successful practice, and to stay in your best mental shape so you can help your clients powerfully. One of the biggest coach gremlins is, “I should be able to do this myself” and “Why can’t I coach myself through this?” Another version of this gremlin is, “I’m a life coach, so I should be happy and positive all the time”. What this gremlin is really saying is, “If I get coaching or have a bad day, I’m not a good enough coach”. Consider this reality check instead: GREAT coaches have coaches. Every profession should be responsible for seeking continued growth and education. Having a coach will accelerate your growth and ability to change lives.
