The Jackdaw (Corvus monedula - Dvergkráka) is still hanging - TopicsExpress

The Jackdaw (Corvus monedula - Dvergkráka) is still hanging around the western suburbs of Reykjavík (SW), Ómar Runólfsson got this shot yesterday. Jackdaws are not particularly common in Iceland, in fact this half of Birding Iceland team has only seen one in Iceland and that was 12 years ago! Other scarce birds in Reykjavík today were a Song Thrush (Turdus philomelos - Söngþröstur), a European Robin (Erithacus rubecula - Glóbrystingur) and two Chaffinches (Fringilla coelebs - Bókfinka) at Laugardalur. Two Gyr Falcons were also worrying the pigeons in Laugardalur. Reykjavík had its first significant snowfall of the winter overnight so it will be interesting to see if anything turns up at bird tables this weekend - on the first weekend in December last year a Lincolns Sparrow showed up. I wouldnt say no to a Fox Sparrow.
