The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Finds Two Missing Girls On Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 9:48 p.m. the Ashland Police Department requested assistance with the search for the two missing 15 year old girls. The girls had failed to return home after hiking near the White Rabbit Trailhead. More than 30 search and rescue volunteers from Siskiyou, Josephine, Klamath, and Jackson counties assisted in the search. Search and Rescue teams consisting of K9 teams, ground searchers, and overhead teams descended into the Ashland area and began canvassing the area. At 2:00 a.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office requested air support from the Oregon National Guard. At 6:30 a.m. a Lakota helicopter arrived on scene and began to help look for the two missing girls. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office also dispatched its air assets, and Alert One began searching first thing this morning. At 7:30 a.m. Alert One located the two missing girls in the hills just above Southern Oregon University. Medics were immediately dropped into the area and began assessing the girl’s medical needs. The girls were packaged and transported by ATVs to waiting ambulances where they were transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center. Their status is unknown at this time.
