The Jim Bowie BBQ State Championship is this weekend! This is the shirt that I had made up for my team this year. I miss my youngun so much. To make things worse, today makes 4 months that she left us here on Earth. I lay on my back in my bed with tears that dont stop even when I try to make them. I dont know why I get so upset, she is free. Now I lay here waiting to see her. I planned on dedicating this year to her way before I found out I had this brain cancer crap. We were in Memphis for 3 months full-time and off and on for about 11 months before they sent us home for the last time. I think we literally ate at EVERY BBQ restaurant in Memphis and I am not exaggerating. I think we were all looking for the perfect BBQ. You know how the servers ask how the meal was when youre finished? Payton got to where she would flat out tell everyone of them -- not as good as my Dads. I think my ribs were her favorite, so that is my focus for 1st place this weekend. I want to win everything obviously, but you know, if I could have my pick. Near the end, she couldnt even eat my BBQ and I see why now. Its so hard for me to swallow and Im so mad at myself to have not been able to see her and hear and feel what she needed from me. All I have is to believe that I did my best and I hope she knows that I did. Anyway, my 2 good podnuhs, Scott Bean and JeffreyShanda Odom are going to be my 2nd assists and hopefully get us to the Winners Circle! My last Radiation treatment is in the morning and Scott will be here to take me to it. We will be on our way to Vidalia, Louisiana for meat inspection. If youre not doing anything this weekend, ride up. Its an awesome time -- bands, attractions for the kids, historical duel on the Mississippi River banks with the famous Bowie Knife,-- not sure if it is the actual knife but it is still awesome! Awards ceremony begins for BBQ at 4:30 on Saturday but activities are Friday night and all day Saturday and into the night. On top of all of that, looking at the lit up bridge over the river from Vidalia to Natchez from the banks is something everyone should see at least one time in their life. Beautiful is not a good enough word to use! Wish us luck!!!
