The Journey So Far: Upward review of the cost of feeding students in Boarding schools from N70 to N100 per head per day; Successful conduct of Annual schools challenge and sporting events across the zonal education offices; Training on Education Quality Assurance to schools including zonal officers and the Board headquarter; The Board conducted Computer training to staff, students and Examination officers in our schools to enhance their performances; The Board has undertaken the evacuation/rehabilitation of toilets, provision of kitchen, sick bays and replacement of doors and windows in 14 out of 17 Girls Boarding schools across the state; The Board provided 33No Lister Grinding Machines, 33No Vegetable Grinding Generators, 474No (150 litres) Food flasks, 330No Plastic containers, 330No assorted kitchen utensils, 63No cooking pots and 5,004No Kwankwasiyya Students eating bowls to Boarding Secondary schools across the state; Laterite filling and landscaping at the Board’s headquarters to address flood during raining season; Replacement of 4No Solar panel batteries and 2No desktop flat screen computers to Data Bank as well as creation of Website/Internet wireless connection for the Board which can be accessed through kssssmb.org.ng and the training of 4No staff on same; The Board promoted 5,970 Junior and Senior staff to various grades and cadres; Production and sustenance of Board’s quarterly Magazine (Kano Teachers Voice); In an effort to ensure proper utilization of School Rehabilitation Funds (SRF), the Board came up with a programme tagged “operation show your projects” aimed at the provision of adequate furniture in schools, ensuring that minor repairs of broken glasses, windows and doors are undertaken by schools, consequent upon which 614 out of 863 schools were visited within 1st and 2nd Terms of 2012/2013 academic session; To further enhance security to lives and properties of staff, the Board sought for clearance from government and approval was granted for the renovation of Board’s wall fence as well as provision of a befitting entrance/gate at the headquarters; Training on capacity building to 826 Principals/Teachers on Education Quality Assurance, 20 staff on multi-media, 40 registry staff and 26 Zonal Accountants on record keeping across the state; To facilitate sporting activities in the state, Government has provided funds for the procurement of sporting equipment to all Secondary schools across the state. In furtherance to above, the Board has constructed modern basketball court at Shekara GGSS; To ensure effective quality delivery, the Board has initiated an induction course to 500 youths corp members on methodology of teaching in our Secondary schools across the state.
