The KVMH Board of Directors meeting in Waimea, yesterday, was packed with more people standing outside the meeting than those sitting inside. The tone of fear felt palpable amongst the medical staff that crowded the room. It was a concern for not only their jobs but the well-being of the patients. This included the teams of Kalaheo Clinic and the Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital alike. Dustin Barca was the last public speaker who directly called out the core concern implied by doctors and Klayton; that being that the appointment of Scott MacFarland, the attorney for the Seed Corn (GMO) business group, Hawaii Crop Improvement Association, is a profound conflict of interest. It is in the best interest of the bio-tech to have no trackable cluster of health concerns in the rural areas surrounding their fields. Dee Morikawa was our one elected representative who showed for this event clearly demonstrating compassion and concern for what was happening.
