The Kansas Wrestling Officials Association annual clinic will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014. On that day you will be given the opportunity to enjoy fellowship with some of the best officials in the state, listen to a great speaker, refine your officiating skills, participate in discussions, win some great door prizes, and eat a great steak lunch provided by Hutchinson Wrestling Club! You will also take care of the required KSHSAA Officials/Rules Meeting. The clinic will be held at Hutchinson High School located at 810 E 13th Ave, Hutchinson, Kansas, 67501 with registration at 8:00 am. Directions to the clinic location will be posted at the high school. This year’s clinic will feature Robert Whitaker as our guest speaker. Bob resides in Palm Coast, Florida. Bob served on the National Rules Committee and is currently editing the Case Book and NFHS articles. He has conducted Rules and Mechanics clinics for the following states; AL, DE, FL, GA, IL, MD, NJ, NC, SC and OR. He has officiated for a number of years at all levels and is responsible for the signal chart we use today. He emphasizes the importance of communication beginning with the use of the right signals. You don’t want to miss this speaker! We will also break out into sessions where there will be interaction between the facilitators and members of the organization in the mini-clinic forum. Dues payable to KWOA are $25.00 for the year. Remit to Craig Ewert. Lunch will be provided for members for an additional $7.00 or a total of $32.00. Members who register before October 8th will receive an early bird gift redeemable at registration at the Clinic. Throughout the years a select few has been bringing gifts/prizes for the raffle. I would like to extend an invitation to each of you to bring something for the raffle. I know many of your hometown businesses support wrestling. Please go out and try to get something donated for the raffle. Your help would be much appreciated! The KWOA exists to support the sport of wrestling by providing the best quality and consistency in officiating. We strive to sharpen every official’s skills and knowledge. New officials need not feel reluctant to join this organization. It is the KWOA’s goal to open the door of communication in a mentoring atmosphere, and pledging to support and assist in scheduling dates, resolving conflicts, and answering questions. A strong organization requires strong membership. Your support is vital! Be sure to go check out the KWOA website at kansasofficials.org. Please let me know how I can make it better! Email me your ideas at [email protected] Thank your continued support. I look forward to seeing you in Hutchinson on October 18th! Sincerely, Ron Haag, President Craig Ewert, Secretary/Treasurer
