The Key of Authority Revelation 3:8 KJV I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. The Church at Philadelphia was noted for three things. 1. They had a little strength. 2. They had kept His word. 3. They had not denied His name. They Had a little strength To this city, who well understood how a little strength in a narrow valley corridor could hold back a stronger army. This church has a little strength, but Christ announces that he already opened for them the door of testimony and success and that the door could be closed by no one. A little strength is what’s required to walk through a open door we simply must believe in what He has set before us. 2 Chronicles 20:15 KJVAnd he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but Gods. When we have is a little strength working in the power of the Holy Spirit you have more than enough. If He opened the door He intends for you to walk through the door He just asking you to believe in victory beyond the open door. They kept His word. The church at Philadelphia was not just hearers of the word but they were also doers of the word. Most of us have heard so much word, but the question is have we acted on it? We must act on three things what is before the open door, what is in the open door, and what is beyond the open door not only in lips service but true actions of faith. The church stands at and important threshold lets walk through the door of evangelism open to us in this important season. As His Church we walk through the open door that no one can shut every week when we attend service, we also walk through the open door of evangelism every time we leave church. You might be saying pastor churches close and they do and this tragedy is most often flesh induced but that closing never shuts down the entire church the church is more than a building it’s the kingdom of God! Matthew 16:18 KJVAnd I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The open door of the church is when we leave the church (gathering place), we are to act on what He has told us to do. Luke 14:23 KJV And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. Compel someone today!! They had not denied His name. At some point in our Christian walk, most of us have had our personal “Peter moment” where we have an opportunity to deny Jesus Christ. In Peter’s case, he failed to own up to the fact that he knew Jesus and was a follower. Some of us may have denied Christ in similar ways by not identifying ourselves as a true follower of Jesus Christ. Few professing Christians will stoop to the level of vocally saying “Jesus is NOT the Lord”, an obvious fearful demonstration of unbelief. But many of us continue to deny Christ daily by how we live, or what we confess. Consider the message the Lord gave to the Faithful Church of Philadelphia. This shows that not keeping His commandments is in fact a denial of Christ. Jesus knows our works which show whether we have kept His word and not denied His name. It’s at the moment of extreme testing that we stand next to Him or move away from Him Romans 1:16 KJVFor I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
