The Kitty Devore Rescue Network is an incorporated company recognized by the state of California. We have a membership of 100+ members. All are dedicated to the mission of Kitty Devore Rescue Network: To rescue, rehabilitate and rehome the cats unfortunate enough to find themselves admitted to Devore Shelter in San Bernardino, California. WE ARE NOT THE SHELTER. NO MEMBER OF THE KITTY DEVORE RESCUE NETWORK IS AFFILIATED OR EMPLOYED BY DEVORE SHELTER. During this period they are not available for rescue or adoption in the event they are lost and their owners come to claim them. On the fifth day that concludes the 5 day intake hold period, cats are released from their intake hold. If they have been deemed Friendly by the shelter staff and if a call has been made to the shelter to request an extension hold for them by a rescue group, they will generally have 3 more days where they can be rescued by a rescue group or adopted by the general public. So, for example, if a cat was admitted on September 1st, they will come off their intake hold on September 6th. If someone has called to ensure they are granted an additional three days extension for rescue or adoption, they will have through the end of the day on September 9th to be saved. For Friendly on Medical Waiver cats, usually they will only have through either noon or the full day on the day they come off their 5 day intake hold to be rescued or adopted. Again, we do have to call the shelter to request this extension be granted. We do call daily to ensure this. However, in special circumstances such as a URI epidemic at the shelter, the standard 3 day extension policy can and have been rescinded by Devore Administration and, instead, cats are evaluated on a day to day basis for the three day extension period. If they show any signs of developing illness (watery eyes, sneezing or sniffles) their time will be cut short and they will need to be out of the shelter by either the end of the day the illness is noticed or by noon the following day. This is the decision of the Devore Administrators and we have absolutely no say-so or influence to alter their decisions. KD is open and willing to rescue all cats admitted to Devore Shelter that are deemed “Friendly” or “Friendly on Medical Waiver” by the shelter. KD will consider rescuing Rescue Only cats at Devore Shelter if the cat is a kitten under the age of 3 months old, is a Friendly who has suddenly been relabeled as Rescue Only or has been deemed Rescue Only due to a more severe medical issue or injury beyond what the label “Friendly on Medical Waiver” implies. These cats may only be rescued and placed with an approved KD foster. Upon submission, review and approval, approved fosters are invited on the our closed network group list. This is where we conduct all our rescue efforts and KD business. It is also where all our administrators, officers, members, fosters and some adopters are. Here fosters will receive constant guidance and support while they foster their KD kitties. Additionally, KD does supply fosters with certain medications and we do reimburse for specific vetting procedures and medical care. We also have a Petfinders account, a website, individual flyers for each KD kitty and adoption events that KD fosters can attend with their foster kitties if they so choose. The entire team is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and supportive and we welcome all new fosters as members of our KD family.
