The LARES Program has received two major national awards! We received The Excelencia award, for being the nation’s top program for increasing achievement for Latino students in the undergraduate category. We also received the Outstanding Institutional Advising Program Award from the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA). We want to give a deep and sincere thank you to our Latino community and leaders, our Latino parents, our AMAZING students, faculty, and INCREDIBLE past and present LARES advisers, and former and current LARES director Leonard Ramirez and Hugo Teruel for making LARES such an unbelievable place to work at! For 39 years weve been making intentional contributions to our Latino community in higher education and Latino policy and will continue to do so! But more importantly, we do it for our students, it is because of our students that all this is possible.
