The LNP does not like doctors It would appear that the LNP does - TopicsExpress

The LNP does not like doctors It would appear that the LNP does not like doctors. Firstly Dr Alex Douglas resigned from the LNP because he was dumped from his positions on various parliamentary committees and then the Premier lied about the circumstances. Secondly Dr Chris Davis resigned from parliament because he could no longer represent the people who elected him. Dr Davis had spoken out about Newman government legislation and its adverse impact upon democracy. Incidentally another doctor, maxillofacial surgeon Dr Anthony Lynham, replaced Dr Davis following the Stafford by election but this time Dr Lynham was a Labor candidate. Thirdly and most recently Dr Bruce Flegg was dumped from pre-selection after representing the safe conservative seat of Moggill for 10 years. When one looks at the conduct, capacity and performance of a number of LNP members who have been pre-selected you have to wonder what Dr Flegg has done wrong. I suspect the breakdown of the relationship between medical practitioners and the LNP has three major reasons: 1. Doctors, by virtue of their professional training and accreditation, have a high standard of integrity. 2. Doctors generally don’t suffer fools, particularly fools trying to tell them how to do their job. 3. One has to be fairly smart to be a doctor. All of these attributes clearly put members of the medical profession at odds with those running the LNP. By definition this must mean to succeed in the LNP a backbencher needs to be not too concerned with integrity, compliant and above all not too smart.
