The Laguna Beach High School Solar Club is putting the final touches on their entry in this years Solar Cup Competition. The competition encourages high school teams to construct solar powered electric boats. To participate, each high school must receive a sponsorship from its local water agency to help outfit its boat with solar panels, motors, propellers and other necessary equipment. Team members took their entry out for its maiden voyage this past weekend in preparation of the three days of racing that takes place May 16-18 in Temecula, CA. The team will be competing against student teams from 39 high schools throughout Southern California. For more information on the competition, visit the Districts web site at lbcwd.org.
