The Letter Carriers’ Food Drive is the outgrowth of a tradition - TopicsExpress

The Letter Carriers’ Food Drive is the outgrowth of a tradition of community service exhibited by America’s letter carriers, who touch every address in the country six days a week. Because letter carriers are the eyes and ears in every neighborhood, they often become life savers in the communities they serve. Besides being the driving force behind America’s largest one-day food collection efforts, letter carriers have traditionally been involved when something needs to be done—collecting funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), watching over the elderly through the Carrier Alert program, or rescuing victims of fires, crime, and other mishaps.
