The Letter Kills! Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3:5, 6 Many people wont see this but its so clear. The letter Paul is speaking of here is the Law, all of it. Yes.. the grand ole Ten Commandments also. You say, How can you say that brother? Glad you ask, lets look at more of what Paul told the Church at Corinth.. But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of the glory of his countenance, which glory was passing away, how will the ministry of the Spirit not be more glorious? 2 Cor 3:7, 8 Did Paul call the 10 Commandments the ministry of death? The answer is yes! That is exactly what the law does when not put in its proper place! Look at what Paul told the Church at Rome.. Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God. For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. Romans 7:4,5 Dead to the Law? You say, but my pastor said, my grandpa said, or any other man said the Law is not over; Jesus didnt end it He only fulfilled it! Paul says in his letter to the Church in Rome, For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes, Romans 10:4. I dont know about you, but I believe. Lets see what else Paul said about the Law. He also told the Church at Corinth, For if the ministry of condemnation had glory, the ministry of righteousness exceeds much more in glory. For even what was made glorious had no glory in this respect, because of the glory that excels. For if what is passing away was glorious, what remains is much more glorious. 2 Corinthian 3:9-11 Did Paul say the ministry of condemnation? Yes he did, and he also told the Church at Rome, There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1. Im in Christ and hes in me. Still need more? But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 2 Corinthians 3:14-16 As you can see here, Paul actually said reading (trusting) the Old Testament blinds people. Blinds people! BUT there is a cure, Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord Jesus, the veil is taken away. Praise God! We are free in Jesus!! Need proof? Look at verse 17,Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. Be bless! ~Mark
