The Life of a Farmer This is coming with nostalgic feelings. In retrospect, I remember my younger days when I used to follow my father to the farm. The things I learnt then has deeper meaning today. First, I learnt the principles of seed time and harvest time. No other trade know this better. A farmer know that there is no cutting corners. He knows that he has to plant before he can harvest. The farmer also knows that the quality of seed will determine the quality of harvest. He therefore makes sure that his seed is without blemish. I still remembered my father planting medium size tubers as seeds. I remembered murmuring that we are planting what should be eaten. God forgive me!!! Moreover, the farmer knows that there is a waiting time between planting time and harvest time, when he has to tend his crop. So he waits with patience and perseverance; his joy only watching his seeds grow. At harvest, the farmer separates his fruits into four- one for thanks giving, the ones for eating, the ones for planting in the coming season and the ones to be sold to meet other needs of the family. There is no fraud, there is honesty, integrity, and contentment. Of course there are true riches, the kind that gives you peace round about May the good Lord continue to bless the soul of Alhaji Bello Shola Ogunsakin, my father.
